Yeastar P-Series Self-Hosted Migration to Different Platform


On the current Yeastar P Series PBX


Check for new firmware and if available upgrade the Yeastar to the latest firmware

Select Maintenance – Upgrade – Check for New Firmware

Select Upgrade Now (when ready to upgrade)



The upgrade progress will display (example)

Once upgrade is complete, the system will reboot

Login again and check to confirm that the system is up to date

Add your public IP to Static Defense
Select Security - Security Rules - Static Defense
Select Add
Enter your details and save




Select Maintenance – Backup and Restore

Select Backup

Enter Details and select data to include (tick all boxes)

Select Save




Download the backup file to your PC by selecting the download icon under Operations (right)


Confirm you have the license activation code of the current Yestar P series instance


Shutdown the current Yeastar P series instance



Spin up a new Yeastar P Series instance in the new hosting environment


When accessing the new Yeastar P Series

It will not allow you to restore the backup file from the wizard using the file you downloaded

Because the firmware used to install the instance will not be the latest and so will not match your downloaded backup file




Instead select New Installation

Enter the original systems Activation Code and select Activate

Complete the rest of the initialization setup


Once the system has rebooted

Login and select Maintenance – Upgrade - Check for the New Firmware

Once the new upgrade firmware displays, select Upgrade Now and continue to upgrade


The new firmware should match the version of your original system the backup was taken from




Once the system has been upgraded to the latest firmware and restarted

Login to the Yeastar P Series

Select Maintenance – Backup and Restore

Select Backup

Take a backup of the existing system

Enter a File Name, Comments

Tick all boxes to take a complete backup

Select Save

Now upload the backup taken from the original Yeastar P Series instance

Select Upload

Browse and select the backup file on your PC, that was downloaded from the original Yeastar P Series instance

Enter a comment

Select Upload

Once uploaded

Select the newly uploaded file (from the original Yeastar P Series)

Select restore by selecting the restore icon under Operations (right)

The restore will start

When successful, a notification will confirm this

Select Reboot Now to complete the restore

Login to the Yeastar P Series instance

Check the configuration has restored correctly

Check Extensions are registered

Check Trunks are registered

Complete testing to confirm everything is working as required


Once all is confirmed you can delete the original Yeastar P Series instance you shutdown in your original hosted environment



Troubleshooting

Yeastar P Series PBX

Restore file fails in wizard – The backup file firmware version does not match the new system version
Public IP address blocked, unable to complete wizard – Your public IP was not added to the static defense list – You will need to access the system via a different public IP to complete the wizard. Then remove your original IP from the blocked list once you have access
SIP trunk not registered – Public IP of new Yeastar P Series might be geo-blocked by SIP provider – Run PCAP trace to confirm if SIP trunk traffic is been sent/received
