Avaya IX Workplace Softphone Setup for Avaya IP Office 500v2 - Using Domain, FQDN and TLS with Certificates.pdf
Setup Requirements
Domain Name: Example: companyname.com.au or Static Public IP Address
FQDN: Example: avaya.companyname.com.au or Static Public IP Address
Public IP Address:
Avaya Phone System Local IP Address:
Avaya Phone System Local IP Mask:
Avaya Phone System Local IP Default Gateway:
Network DNS Primary:
Network DNS Secondary:
The Domain Name and FQDN provided will need to resolve to the public IP address of the network the Avaya phone system is connected to (f the Domain Name resolves to a different public IP address then use the FQDN in the Avaya phone system programming for both the Domain and FQDN
Port Forwarding Requirements
The router on the network the Avaya phone system is connected to (which the public IP address routes to) will need the below port forwarding to the local IP address of the Avaya phone system if the softphone will be used externally.
411 TCP (secure access to IPO - – example https://avaya.companyname.com.au:411/46xxsettings.txt)
5061 TCP (secure TLS SIP registration of the app
NOTE: It is recommended to change this port in the Avaya IPO from the common/default port 5061 to another available port, for example 15063 and port forward the new port instead of the common 5061
40750 through to 50750 UDP (If programming on IPOSE)
or
46750 through to 50750 UDP (if programming on an IP500v2)
DNS record and NAT Loopback Requirements
If the IX Workplace softphone will be connected on the same internal network as the Avaya phone system
Then an internal DNS record to resolve the FQDN to the local IP address of the Avaya phone system is required
Depending on the router, you can either enable NAT Loopback or you will need to add a DNS A record to resolve the FQDN to the local IP address.
This is to prevent the IX Workplace app resolving the FQDN to the public IP address and so routing traffic out to the internet which then routes back to the customers network and causes issues with no voice.
(This is known as hair-pinning)
Once you have the details above confirmed and completed by the customer/IT
PING Test to FQDN (if used)
PING the FQDN avaya.companyname.com.au from an external location (example 4G) and confirm it resolves to the public IP.
PING the FQDN avaya.companyname.com.au from an internal network and confirm it resolves to the local IP of the Avaya phone system.
Program the Avaya phone system with the settings and reboot as per the appropriate document
Testing Access with TLS Certificates
Test from IX Workplace softphone using the URL below.
Remember to install the certificates on the PC or Mobile you are testing from before testing the below URL to confirm the certificate is installed correctly and that no certificate errors are displayed when accessing the URL.

Example: https://avaya.companyname.com.au:411/46xxsettings.txt
Confirm you reach the 46xxsettings page of the Avaya phone system on an external network (example 4G)
